On July 1st, Herwig Probst took over as Managing Director of Alturos Destinations GmbH. He succeeds founder Michael Saringer, who built the company and shaped it over many years. Michael Saringer is stepping down – two years after joining the Juniper Group within Constellation Software – at his own request and on the best of terms. The entire team owes him heartfelt thanks for everything he has created.
22 years of Alturos-DNA
With Herwig Probst, someone who knows Alturos from the core is taking the helm: he has been with the company for 22 years and served most recently as COO. From day one, continuity and reliability are at the heart of it – for customers, partners and the team alike. “My sincere thanks go to Michael Saringer: he founded Alturos, shaped it over many years and made it what it is today. That makes me all the more excited to carry this path forward,” says Herwig Probst.
And it’s a path to be proud of: from individual solutions, Destination OS has grown – a unique platform that brings marketing, sales, communication and guest entertainment for mountain railways, leisure attractions, panoramic trains and tourism regions together on a single level. Additionally there is Skiline, the app that turns ski days into an experience and has already won over 6.3 million users.
Where the industry is heading
An exciting direction lies ahead for Alturos: AI is changing the way guests plan and book their travel. Visitor flow management is shifting from a nice-to-have to a strategic must. And entertainment on the mountain increasingly decides who comes back – and who doesn’t. This is exactly where Alturos comes in: customer focus, service excellence, targeted growth and innovation remain at the core – digital solutions that work in everyday operations and give destinations a measurable edge. Not a change of strategy, but more momentum in a direction that has proven itself.
“I know our core business, our customers and our team – and I’m convinced the most exciting phase, around Destination OS and Skiline, is still ahead of us”, Herwig Probst adds.
